Tech Valley is an 18-county region in eastern New York State that spans from just south of Montreal to north of New York City. It includes a richness and diversity both of people and of places. Solution:

The primary objective of the TVP website was to lead users to local online resources (rather than recreate existing online resources). Mercury needed to be able to preset certain default search parameters for the Tech Valley region on partner websites.

The challenge was to develop a dynamic, user-friendly, virtual gateway to information on working, living and doing business in Tech Valley. To accomplish this, we chose rich images with the look and feel of a welcoming television commercial. The portal needed to be a database driven website, rather than text or page driven, to facilitate maintenance and cross linking.

The Tech Valley Portal (TVP) needed to be designed primarily as a promotional tool aimed at providing newcomers a broad-brush introduction to the area, celebrating Tech Valley’s many assets. The intended result was for any prospective new arrivals to come away from a visit to the Tech Valley Portal realizing that Tech Valley is a great place.
